Our client, a manufacturing company located in Port Colborne, ON, is looking for a Team Leader to join their team. 

 

What you will do in this role:

 

  • Lead a team of Production Technicians operating a 24/7 Citric Acid and Citrates production process.
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations, policies and procedures for all workers performing tasks in the Purification Department.
  • Ensure Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) requirements are met for food safety.
  • Deliver a “zero defect” product out of purification.
  • Achieve Purification production yield targets and volumes to meet production requirements.
  • Perform workplace inspections every shift to always keep the department “audit ready”.
  • Implement practical continuous improvement Kaizen initiatives to improve operating results.
  • Fully understand the purification process to identify process issues and make process adjustments as necessary, including responding to out of spec in-process results.
  • Monitor the process and adjust using the DCS control system.
  • Prepare for daily maintenance requirements and shutdown and lockout equipment to be worked on.
  • Monitor plant steam and electrical consumption to meet sustainability targets.
  • Train new employees, where required, on Purification operations.

 

What you will bring to the role:

 

  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: electrical, mechanical, stationary, or chemical (either specific courses, process work experience, or education).
  • BSc degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry is an asset.
  • 5 years in a manufacturing preferably in food manufacturing or in a continuous flow refining process.
  • A leader with the ability to support and motivate staff.
  • Collaborative with a team-building spirit.
  • Confident personality with assertiveness, independence, and initiative.
  • Resourceful and focused with a first principal approach.
  • Strong DCS and Microsoft Office experience
