Our client, a manufacturing company located in Marshall, MN is looking for a Refrigeration Supervisor to join their team.
What you will do in this role:
- Manage Refrigeration Operations: Oversee daily operations and maintenance activities of ammonia refrigeration systems, ensuring they run efficiently and reliably.
- Ensure Compliance: Maintain compliance with IIAR, PSM standards, OSHA regulations, and all local, state, and federal safety codes. Oversee documentation and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- System Monitoring and Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance of refrigeration equipment, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, and related components.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and resolve refrigeration system malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime. Coordinate and execute repairs, as necessary.
- Safety Management: Lead the team in enforcing strict safety protocols for handling ammonia and other hazardous materials. Implement emergency response procedures for refrigeration-related incidents.
- Personnel Supervision: Train, supervise, and evaluate refrigeration technicians, ensuring skill development and adherence to operational procedures. Assign tasks and monitor performance.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities. Prepare reports on system performance, incidents, and regulatory compliance.
- Inventory Control: Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment needed for refrigeration system maintenance. Coordinate with procurement for timely ordering.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for system and process enhancements. Recommend and implement upgrades to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability.
- Coordination with Other Departments: Work closely with production, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure seamless plant operations and minimize disruptions caused by refrigeration system issues.
What you will bring to the role:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial refrigeration.
- Prefer at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Certification in Ammonia Refrigeration or IIAR standards
- Certified Industrial Refrigeration (CIR) Operation.
- PSM training and Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) certification desirable.
- Boiler License
- Extensive knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and their components.
- Familiarity with IIAR standards, PSM regulations, and safety procedures related to hazardous materials.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex refrigeration systems.
- Proficient in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for documentation and scheduling.
